Central Bank lending survey

In 2022, the Central Bank began conducting quarterly lending surveys among the four commercial banks. In the surveys, the banks are asked for their assessment of developments in credit supply and demand; the factors that, in their opinion, had a decisive impact on supply in the past three months; and their expectations for the coming six months.

IMF Spring Meetings 2023

Ásgeir Jónsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland (CBI), and Gunnar Jakobsson, Deputy Governor for financial stability and other CBI staff participated in the Spring meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the IMF (IMFC) in Washington DC 12-16 April 2023. Nadia Calviño, Spain’s First Vice President, chaired the meeting and the Nordic-Baltic constituency was represented by Elisabeth Svantesson, Finance Minister of Sweden.

Minutes of the Financial Stability Committee meeting of 13-14 March

The Financial Stability Committee of the Central Bank of Iceland takes decisions on the application of the Bank’s financial stability policy instruments. At the meeting The Committee discussed the outlook for and principal risks to financial stability, such as economic developments, risks to the financial institutions and the financial system, developments in domestic financial markets, household and corporate debt, the real estate market, the efficacy of borrower-based measures, financial institutions’ capital and liquidity position, and the financial cycle. The Committee also discussed cybersecurity and received information on the TIBER project and measures to strengthen cybersecurity in payment intermediation.

In accordance with the Monetary Policy Committee Rules of Procedure, the minutes of the Committee's most recent meeting have been published on the Bank's website. The minutes are published two weeks after the announcement of the Committee‘s decision. Accordingly, we have now published the minutes from the meeting of 20-21 March 2023, during which the Committee discussed economic and financial market developments and decisions on the application of the Bank’s monetary policy instruments.
