Minutes of the Financial Stability Committee September meeting

The minutes of the Financial Stability Committee meeting 22 and 26 – 27 September 2022 has been published. The Committee discussed the current situation and outlook for financial stability and the principal risks to financial stability, such as economic developments, risks faced by financial institutions and the financial system, developments in domestic financial markets, household and corporate debt, the real estate market, and financial institutions’ capital position.

Economy of Iceland 2022 published

The Central Bank of Iceland has published Economy of Iceland 2022. Economy of Iceland is a booklet that has been published regularly by the Bank since 1987. It is intended mainly for an international readership. This includes international institutions that deal with Icelandic economic and financial matters on a regular basis, rating agencies, financial institutions, foreign investors, embassies and diplomatic missions and, more generally, anyone who is interested in general information about the Icelandic economy and finance.

Minutes of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting of 3-4 October 2022

In accordance with the Monetary Policy Committee Rules of Procedure, the minutes of the Committee's most recent meeting have been published on the Bank's website. The minutes are published two weeks after the announcement of the Committee‘s decision. Accordingly, we have now published the minutes from the meeting of 3-4 October 2022, during which the Committee discussed economic and financial market developments and decisions on the application of the Bank’s monetary policy instruments.

Statement of the Monetary Policy Committee 5 October 2022

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Iceland has decided to raise the Bank’s interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. The Bank’s key interest rate – the rate on seven-day term deposits – will therefore be 5.75%.

At 9:30 hrs, a webcast presentation will be aired where Ásgeir Jónsson, Governor and Monetary Policy Committee chair, and Rannveig Sigurðardóttir, Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy, explain the statement and the rationale behind the Committee´s decision.
