Pension funds purchase Treasury's HFF bonds to strengthen FX reserves

The Central Bank of Iceland, on behalf of the Treasury, has reached an agreement with 26 pension funds, according to which the funds will purchase Housing Financing Fund (HFF) bonds owned by the Treasury. The Treasury and the Central Bank acquired the bonds following the banks’ collapse and with agreements with Banque centrale du Luxembourg and the liquidator of Landsbanki Luxembourg on 18 May 2010.

Central Bank of Iceland signs an agreement concerning Avens B.V. Eurobonds

The Central Bank of Iceland, on behalf of the National Treasury of Iceland concluded an agreement concerning the purchase of just over 2% of published Eurobonds owned by Avens B.V. With this purchase, The National Treasury will be the owner of all of Avens B.V‘s published Eurobonds and has with that secured full possession of the company‘s assets.

Publishing of detailed balance sheets for the banking sector

Due to the financial crash in Iceland in October 2008, the CBI has not been able to publish detailed balance sheets for the banking sector. Work is being done to catch up with the balance sheets from October 2008 – April 2010. The Central Bank is now publishing preliminary balance sheets for December 2008 and December 2009 in full detail.

Banque centrale du Luxembourg and the liquidator of Landsbanki Luxembourg S.A. sign an agreement

The Central Bank of Iceland, on behalf of itself and the National Treasury of Iceland, has concluded an agreement with the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) and the liquidator of Landsbanki Luxembourg S.A., concerning the purchase of 98% of outstanding Avens B.V. bonds.
