Central Bank of Iceland hires new Director of Operations and Human Resources

Ásta H. Bragadóttir has been engaged to fill the position of Director of Operations of the Central Bank of Iceland, which includes personnel management for the Bank. Ásta has held the position of Assistant Manager of the Housing Financing Fund since January 2008 and served temporarily as Acting General Manager of the Fund. From 1999 until 2008, she held the position of Director of Operations and Human Resources of the Fund. She holds a Cand. Oecon. degree from the University of Iceland and has acquired extensive further education in the fields of auditing, management, finance, human resources, and computer and technology issues.

Ásta was selected from a group of 77 applicants for the position, some of whom subsequently withdrew their applications. In evaluating the applicants, the Central Bank was assisted by business consultancy firm Hagvangur. Interviews were conducted with about 20 applicants who were considered the strongest candidates for the position.

Ásta’s selection from among the candidates was based in particular on her wide-ranging management experience as Assistant Manager, Acting General Manager, and head of Operations and Human Resources at the Housing Financing Fund. She also has experience with projects aimed at improving administration and efficiency in the Fund’s operations.
