Mr. Davíð Oddsson appointed Governor and Chairman of the Board of Governors
Following the announcement of Mr. Birgir Ísleifur Gunnarsson’s retirement as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Iceland, the Prime Minister of Iceland has appointed Mr. Davíð Oddsson Governor and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Iceland effective from October 20, 2005. Currently Minister for Foreign Affairs, Davíð Oddsson served as Prime Minister from 1991 to 2004 and as Mayor of Reykjavík prior to that.
